About
Lena Matrosova is a Russian artist living in Berlin since 2008.
She studied Photography at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts as well as Linguistics and Communication Science at the Technical University of Berlin, and she is a Bachelor of Russian Philology (Moscow).
Lena Matrosova develops in conceptual work installations and collages from various media. Her focus is on photography, sound and print.
The significant feature of her work is the open question which often hides behind irony.
The artist immerses herself in the themes very thoroughly, so it allows her to show seemingly understan- dable, everyday topics from an unexpected point of view. She prefers not to give specific answers to the questions that are hidden in her photographs, but to give this right to the viewer, while her works are often ironic in nature.
